G.N.M - General Nursing And Midwifery

GNM or General Nursing Midwifery is a Three and a half-year diploma course in the field of Nursing. Students who wish to pursue GNM diploma can proceed after passing their class 12 exam with Science stream. The Three year and half-year course includes six-months of mandatory internship. GNM diploma course is one of the sort out course which can be considered as a stepping stone towards making a career in the Nursing field. Graduates of GNM diploma can start their career by working with government and private hospitals and clinics.

Eligibility: The primary requirements to enroll in a GNM Nursing program in India are outlined below.
1) Students must have passed the Science stream's 10+2 exam, with Physics, Chemistry, and Biology as required courses.
2) Additionally, candidates must have scored at least 50% on their qualifying examinations. Some of the best medical schools that offer the GNM Nursing program require a 60% GPA.
3) Their GNM Nursing Entrance Exam Result must also contain the minimum number of marks required.


B.Sc. Nursing

B.Sc Nursing course is broadly based on education within an academic framework specially directed to the development of critical thinking skills, competence and standards required for the practice of professional nursing and midwifery as envisaged in National Health Policy, 2002. Since, it involves nursing of the wounded or ill, a lot of sectors require these graduates hence increasing its demand which is only expected to increase in the future as well. In India, the course is registered under and is controlled by Indian Nursing Council

Duration of the Course & Eligibility

4 Years

Eligibility: Candidates should be of minimum 17 years and maximum 23 years as on December 31st of each admission year.
Must have passed 12th in the first attempt and with a minimum of 60% in English and 60% in Physics, Chemistry and Biology taken together from any State Higher Secondary Board or equivalent, NRI’s and Persons of Indian Origin (PIO) who qualifies from foreign universities will have to produce an equivalence certificate from the Association of Indian Universities, New Delhi. The candidates shall be medically fit.


PC.B.Sc. Nursing

Post Basic Bachelor of Science in Nursing is an undergraduate Nursing course. It is also termed as P.C.B.Sc. (Nursing) which is an acronym of the course, similarly some institutes have acronyms such as P.C.B.Sc. (Nsg) and B.Sc. (N) in their brochures for the same course. Nursing is a healthcare profession related to the care of individuals, families, and communities; so, they may attain, maintain, or recover optimal health and quality of life from conception to death. The All India Institute of Medical Sciences, Delhi is providing in two years. The minimum time to complete the course is also differentiating from institute to institute. The course may also be available on a part-time basis in some certain institutes.

2 Years

Eligibility: Students must have been passed the Higher Secondary/Senior Secondary/Intermediate/10+2 or an equivalent examination from a recognized School Board. Those who have completed10+1 in or before 1986, will be eligible for admission.
Those who have a certificate in General Nursing and Midwifery and registered as R.N.R.M. with the State Nurses Registration Council also are eligible for it.
A male nurse, trained before the implementation of the new integrated course besides being registered as a nurse with State Nurses Registration Council, shall produce evidence of training approved by Indian Nursing Council for a similar duration in lieu of midwifery in any one of the following areas such as O.T. Techniques, Ophthalmic Nursing, Leprosy Nursing, TB Nursing, Psychiatric Nursing, Neurological and Neurosurgical Nursing, Community Health Nursing, Cancer Nursing and Orthopedic Nursing.
They will be medically fit and admitted once in a year

Eligibility: Candidates may apply for the programme who have cleared their Class 12th board exams from a recognized board.
Candidates must have at least a 50% grade point average in science, a required subject in their 10+2 exams from any recognized board.
Candidates must have passed an entrance exam that is accepted, such as the WBPGNAT, MET, or AIIMS MSc Exam.
